What a pleasure it is to work with young people. Thank you for entrusting me with yours. I am in my 4th year teaching Chemistry at Belton New Tech and my 9th year teaching overall. My degree is in chemistry from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and have spent 5 years in the field (Texas A&M Medical School) doing applied biomedical research. I love my job even with all it’s challenges and opportunities for growth. Let me tell you a little bit about my teaching philosophy. I believe that the chemistry content will be an important foundation for many of the students I teach, but I also feel that there are other important factors. These include the ability to think critically and to problem solve. I also feel strongly that I should instill a love of science whenever I can. If I can make inroads here, then student will work on their own satisfy their appetite for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). I feel that both student and teacher can learn a lot from each other and I am thankful for the opportunity.
